Emotional Atyachaar Response

Raj Nair, IIMB'79

Hi Chandna,

Trust you to make us put our thinking caps on, concerning issues which don't have straight forward responses . . .
Manjit gave a beautiful insight, aka 'emotional atyachar' .
A Mahatma comes ( possibly) only once in our life times. His stature casts a long shadow on all of us . . . it is but natural that his family would be entirely dwarfed, since He will always be their reference point. Its quite possible the Gandhi family have moved on with their lives, but it is us ( we the people, media ?) who are being judgemental and passing our pronouncements.Well Chandna , you have been judgemental too ( aka the elder son 'vanished' from the Mahatma's life).
A huge banyan tree gives us a soothing shade, but its unlikely whether any other tree can grow in its shadow.
A related question : is there a need for any disciplining ( in the context of children) ? What forms does it take ? Or is disciplining an outdated, archaic concept?
Truth is a pre requisite, an absolute norm. I am not imputing any 'noble' motives to it. Captured soldiers dont blurt out because they are 'true' to their country's calling.
Vis a vis " becoming grand parents" has any one of you ( or have we all) experienced that there is an ' I ' which has been unchanging right through our teens through adult hood till today ?
Well, look forward to hearing from you and God bless. May the power be with you . . .
Raj
