2. A Pinch Of Salt

On certain events, people contribute money, prepare community lunch and distribute amongst the poor. Thousands of poor turn up for such lunches. After the poor have had their fill, others eat the remaining.

Once a very poor lady approached the priest supervising one such event holding a 25 paise (half a cent) coin. Apologetically, she said she only had that much sum but still had to feed a large number of poor to earn merit.

Nonchalantly, the priest told her not to worry and buy a few pinches of salt that she could get with the sum . She bought a small packet of salt and gave it to him . The priest poured the salt in the cauldron in which food was being cooked and mixed it well with the contents . He told her that this way she was feeding several hundred poor even with that small sum and she was happy.
